The Dream Begins Here

What is Chesapeake Dolphin Cheerleading? The idea of Chesapeake Dolphin Cheerleading was conceived in the fall of 2002 and the squad was started in the spring of 2003.
Why is this squad associated with a gymnastics gym and not a school or a sports team? The idea behind this squad is to pull and train the best cheerleaders in the area to compete and gain recognition. We can then help the members of the squad apply for cheerleading scholarships to college. More and more colleges are offering these scholarships. Plus many on the squad just want to compete. The reason for the affiliation with a gymnastics gym is that today's cheerleading has become a combination of dance, gymnastics and cheer Chesapeake Gymnastics offers all three. By offering everything under one roof so to speak it is much less expensive and easier for the parents.
What kind of training do you get? Currently we have tumbling for cheer 3 nights a week. We strongly recommend you take this class if you are on the squad. In the fall we will offer a new class that will combine dance, cheer and gymnastics that will be required and will be a part of the Chesapeake Dolphin Cheerleading.
Do you have a parents group? Yes we do and they are currently involved in raising money to help off set the cost of camps, travel and competitions. We are hoping that in the near future they will be able to offer scholarships to the members of the squad. We are education and family oriented and are working for the kids.
Do you have male cheerleaders? No not at this time. However it is easier for males to get scholarships and many football players that are injured, or
do not make the team for some reason opt to lift and toss girls into the air. This usually dispels the myth that it is not manly to cheer. After all George W. Bush, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Kirk Douglas were all cheerleaders. In other words it would be great to have male cheerleaders.
